Artist's
Statement
Related to my university research, I found aesthetic appeal within cell structures and human brain
mapping. Aiming to convey graphic representation of dynamic brain activity, I create large-scale vibrant
watercolour paintings from various neurofeedback imaging such as fMRI (Functional Magnetic
Resonance Imaging), spectrograms, electron microscopy and qEEG (Quantitative Encephalogram). My
watercolour paintings depict brain activity such as anxiety or brain injury, while I take a layered and
detailed approach with my graphite drawings to showcase various cell structure. I wish to bridge the gap
between academic scientific discourse to a wider audience.
